WHAT IS AJAAI?

The American Journal of Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AJAAI) is a peer-reviewed, fully open-access academic journal committed to advancing the frontiers of knowledge in data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and computational intelligence. The Asian Journal of Advanced AI and Informatics (AJAAI) is a fully open-access journal. All content is made freely available immediately upon publication, without any embargo period, subscription fees, or access charges to readers.

Free Access
Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of all articles published in this journal without requesting prior permission from the publisher or authors, in accordance with the definition of open access provided by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).

Licensing

ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES (APCs) AND WAIVER POLICY

AJAAI operates on an open-access model funded by APCs. The following fee schedule applies:

APCs are due only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication following peer review. Submission is free of charge.

Waiver Policy: AJAAI recognizes that researchers from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) or those without institutional funding may face financial barriers to publication. Authors from countries classified as low-income or lower-middle-income by the World Bank may apply for a full or partial APC waiver. Waiver requests must be submitted to the Editorial Office at info@ajeed.org at the time of manuscript submission. Waivers are granted at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief and are not contingent on editorial decisions. The review process is entirely independent of APC payment or waiver status.

SPONSORSHIP AND FUNDING DISCLOSURE

AJAAI does not receive advertising revenue or commercial sponsorship that influences editorial decisions. Any external funding received to support journal operations is disclosed in the annual reports of the Editorial Office. Editorial independence is maintained at all times regardless of funding sources.

PEER REVIEW POLICY

AJAAI operates a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published work. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by a minimum of two independent expert reviewers. The peer review process follows these steps:

1. Initial Submission Check: The Editorial Office checks that the manuscript meets minimum formatting and scope requirements. Submissions that do not meet these criteria are returned to the authors before peer review.
2. Editor Assignment: The Editor-in-Chief or a designated Associate Editor with relevant expertise is assigned to manage the manuscript.
3. Reviewer Invitation: A minimum of two independent expert reviewers are invited. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, absence of conflicts of interest, and availability.
4. Blinded Review: Author identities are removed from the manuscript before it is sent to reviewers. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.
5. Review Period: Reviewers are given 21 days to submit a structured review report. Reminders are sent at 7 days before the deadline.
6. Editorial Decision: Based on reviewer reports, the handling editor makes one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
7. Author Revision: Authors are given 14 days (minor revision) or 30 days (major revision) to revise their manuscript. A point-by-point response to reviewers is required.
8. Re-review: Revised manuscripts are returned to the original reviewers for re-evaluation where applicable.
9. Final Decision: The Editor-in-Chief issues a final accept or reject decision.
10. Acceptance and Production: Accepted manuscripts proceed to copy-editing, typesetting, and online publication.

PLAGIARISM POLICY

AJAAI uses iThenticate (or equivalent plagiarism detection software) to screen all submissions prior to peer review. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding references, properly quoted material, and standard methods sections) are returned to the authors for revision before the review process begins. A similarity index above 30% will result in immediate rejection without review. Authors must ensure their manuscript is their own original work and that all previously published material is properly cited and quoted. Self-plagiarism, duplicate submission, and data fabrication are treated as serious violations of publication ethics and may result in rejection, retraction, and notification of the authors' institutions.

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

AJAAI is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties — editors, authors, reviewers, and the publisher — are expected to adhere to the following standards:

Authors must ensure that submitted work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration at another journal. Authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest, funding sources, and ethical approvals. Authorship must reflect genuine intellectual contribution. The addition, removal, or reordering of authors must be approved by all co-authors and the Editor-in-Chief.

Reviewers must maintain confidentiality of manuscripts assigned to them, declare any conflicts of interest, and provide objective and constructive assessments.

Editors must handle manuscripts fairly and confidentially, make decisions based solely on academic merit, and recuse themselves from manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.

The Publisher is responsible for ensuring that commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions, and for maintaining the integrity of the published academic record.

Misconduct allegations are handled according to COPE flowcharts and guidelines. Where misconduct is confirmed, AJAAI will take appropriate corrective action, including correction notices, expressions of concern, or retraction.

EDITORIAL ETHICS AND INDEPENDENCE

AJAAI upholds the principle of editorial independence. All editorial decisions — including acceptance, rejection, and revision requests — are made solely on the basis of academic merit, relevance to scope, originality, and ethical compliance. No editorial decisions are influenced by commercial relationships, author nationality, institutional affiliation, or APC payment status. The Editor-in-Chief bears final responsibility for all editorial decisions.

PRIVACY AND DATA HANDLING POLICY (GDPR COMPLIANT)

The names and email addresses entered on the AJAAI website and journal platform are used exclusively for the purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any third party. AJAAI collects and processes personal data (including names, affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID identifiers) solely for the purposes of manuscript management, peer review coordination, author communication, and publication. Data is stored securely and is not shared with third parties except where required by law. Users have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of their personal data held by the journal by contacting info@ajeed.org. Full details are provided in the journal Privacy Statement.

DIGITAL PRESERVATION AND ARCHIVING

AJAAI is committed to the long-term digital preservation of all published content. The journal participates in or is working towards participation in the following preservation initiatives:

• LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): A distributed preservation network that enables libraries to preserve permanent access to AJAAI content.
• CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS): A community-governed archive that preserves access to AJAAI articles in the event the journal ceases operations.
• PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): Provided through the Open Journal Systems platform for automated dark archiving of journal content.

RETRACTION, CORRECTION, AND EXPRESSION OF CONCERN POLICY

AJAAI is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. When errors, misconduct, or ethical breaches are identified in published articles, AJAAI will take the following actions:

• Correction: A formal correction notice will be issued for minor errors that do not affect the overall conclusions of the article. The original article will be updated with a link to the correction notice.
• Retraction: Articles that contain fundamental errors, data fabrication, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical violations will be retracted. A retraction notice will be published, clearly linked to the original article, and the article will be marked as retracted.
• Expression of Concern: In cases where an investigation is ongoing or evidence of misconduct is uncertain, an expression of concern may be published while the matter is under review.

All retraction and correction notices are published openly and indexed in the same databases as the original article. AJAAI follows COPE guidelines on retractions.

COMPLAINTS AND APPEALS PROCEDURE

Authors, reviewers, or readers who wish to appeal an editorial decision or raise a complaint regarding the conduct of any party in the editorial process may do so by writing to the Editor-in-Chief at info@ajeed.org with the subject line "Formal Appeal" or "Formal Complaint." All appeals and complaints will be acknowledged within 5 working days and resolved within 30 working days. If the complainant is not satisfied with the Editor-in-Chief's response, they may escalate the matter to the publisher. AJAAI handles all appeals and complaints in accordance with COPE guidelines.

CALL FOR SPECIAL ISSUES

AJAAI welcomes proposals for Special Issues on focused topics within the scope of the journal. Guest editors wishing to propose a Special Issue should submit a proposal to info@ajeed.org including: a title and description of the proposed theme, the names and affiliations of proposed guest editors, a list of potential contributors, and a proposed timeline. All manuscripts submitted to Special Issues undergo the same rigorous double-blind peer review process as regular submissions. Guest editors must not handle manuscripts from their own institution or from colleagues with whom they have a conflict of interest.
